‘What About Me?’ Welcome Award

WHAT IS THE WELCOME AWARD?

The “What About Me?” Welcome Award recognises and encourages great service by businesses and organisations towards people with an intellectual disability, acquired brain injury or autism across a wide range of sectors, from retail and leisure through to public and financial services. It’s a Positive Futures “seal of approval”, so you can see at a glance how inclusive a business or organisation is.

The Award is a public endorsement of the quality of the welcome and service that businesses or organisations offer to disabled people and their carers. The three principles of the Award are: Respect, Inclusion and Accountability. Participating businesses / organisations will sign a Welcome Award Pledge to uphold these principles.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

The aim of the Welcome Award is to:

• encourage businesses / organisations to consider customers with an intellectual disability, acquired brain injury or autism in their customer service and wider customer experience

• ask businesses / organisations that apply for, or are nominated for the Award, to commit to an anti–discriminatory Pledge

• provide an opportunity for Positive Futures to develop and build on relationships with local businesses / organisations

• promote Positive Futures and the needs of people with an intellectual disability, acquired brain injury or autism with the general public.

I RUN A BUSINESS OR ORGANISATION. HOW DO I GET THE WELCOME AWARD?

If you are committed to the principles of respect, inclusion and accountability by considering the needs of, and providing a welcoming environment for, people with an intellectual disability, acquired brain injury, autism or other disability, click here to complete our short application form.

I KNOW A BUSINESS OR ORGANISATION WHICH PROVIDES GREAT SERVICE. WHAT CAN I DO?

Nominations are invited from members of the public for businesses / organisations who they consider deserve our “seal of approval”. Get in touch with us on +44 (0)28 9147 5720 or email info@positive-futures.net to tell us a bit about the business / organisation and why they deserve the Award. We will contact the nominee and take it from there.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

All businesses / organisations who receive the Award will receive a window sticker and certificate for displaying on their premises.
